Papaskarasi
Pasaeli
Thrace, Turkey
ABV 14%
A new addition to the Paşaeli portfolio, this wine is crafted from Papaskarası, a native variety of Thrace. The grapes were harvested from a single vineyard planted in 1950. Remarkably, this is the last remaining Papaskarası vineyard in the region, consisting of free-standing bush vines. In the glass, it shows a mid to light crimson hue. The nose reveals vibrant dark red fruit layered with a refined stony-mineral dustiness and delicate floral notes. The influence of oak is subtle, marked only by a whisper of sweet spice. On the palate, lightly chewy tannins provide structure, with the oak currently adding some texture but not overwhelming the wine. It delivers depth and concentration without heaviness or astringency, finishing with a lively burst of fresh red fruit and excellent clarity.
